A key component to remaining active and engaged in your course(s) is establishing your notification settings. Anytime changes or updates occur in the following six areas, you will receive a notification.

  1. Course Activities
  2. Discussions
  3. Communications
  4. Scheduling
  5. Groups
  6. Administrative Alerts

There are TWO (2) aspects to Notification Preferences you should know.

Keep Notifications Flexible
It's a good idea to set your preferences
at the start of the semester.
But don't feel locked into these settings!
Going to out of town for a conference?
Is the school email down?
Working from a place with limited internet?
Update preferences regularly and as needed
and stay connected to your students.

Where do you want your notifications to go?

You can set your notifications to come to your email (or multiple emails) or other methods such as your phone via SMS. It's nice to have at least two email methods. NOTE: Messages that come to your phone may be truncated or abbreviated.

How frequently do you want notifications to be delivered?

The frequency of each notification can be set to ASAP, daily, weekly or never. You can set the frequency per delivery method. Perhaps you want all notifications to come ASAP to your school email and only admin alerts to come to your phone.

Keep in mind your notification preferences are set system-wide... not individually by course.
