[MODULE 2] Summary
Now that you've read and reviewed the materials in MODULE 2: Build Your Awesome Assignments and Activities, remember the following take-aways:
When it comes to creating activities...
- First, decide on the TYPE of activity. Is it an assignment, a discussion or a quiz?
- Second, determine if it will graded or un-graded activity.
The differences between graded and ungraded activities are...
- All graded assignments, discussions and quizzes will have a gradebook column.
- All graded assignments, discussions and quizzes will be listed under the ASSIGNMENTS tab.
When it comes to quizzes...
- Remember that all assessments are created using the quiz tool -- whether you call it test, exam, survey, evaluation, mid-term, quiz, etc.
- There are 2 types of quizzes --- QUIZ and SURVEY
- Ungraded quizzes are called 'practice quizzes'
- Surveys can be set to anonymous.
There are 3 ways to add questions to a quiz (or survey):
- Build a question from scratch from the question tab.
- Copy a question from an existing question bank.
- Randomly generate questions from a question bank (i.e. "Select 10 questions at 1 point each from the Chapter 4 question bank).
When it comes to designing discussions...
- From the DISCUSSIONS tab, you can pin, delete, or close discussions for comments.
- From the DISCUSSIONS settings, you can customize discussion options (threaded, unthreaded, etc.)
- From the COURSE SETTINGS, you can determine student experience as it relates to discussions.
There are 2 benefits for grouping assignments...
- You can weight grades based on groups
- You can create grading criteria within a group
