Day 19: Bullying and Anonymous Reporting
Objective: Identify the characteristics of bullying and identify what actions you can take to stop it on and off campus.
Context
Bullying is something that occurs on all school campuses and is a major factor in how comfortable many students feel in coming to school on a daily basis. Bullying in any of its forms is absolutely unacceptable. We all need to be aware of it and take steps to prevent it and action to end it when we see it.
Step 1: Review the following presentation with your teacher:
Discussion
- Mohandas Ghandi led a peaceful movement to end the oppression that he saw in his native country of India. One of his more famous quotes was "Be the change you wish to see in the world." How can we as individuals take his idea and use it to help ensure that this is a place that we want to come to school and work everyday?
- Bullying is not always a physical act. In fact it is more common to see acts of cyber bullying. How can cyber bullying on social media or through the recording of fights have long term effects on those who are posted about or filmed? What can you do to prevent it?
Step 2: Anonymous Reporting
Keeping our campus safe is a responsibility that we all share!
If you see things that involve bullying, drugs, or other dangerous behavior you can report it anonymously.
You can use the Anonymous Tips form on the MHHS website:
The more information you can provide, the easier it will be for administration to follow up. Your personal information will never be shared.
