Day 5: Return to Excellence-4

Objective: Determine how damaging student behavior is addressed at MHHS by examining the Return to Excellence process.

Return to Excellence

When things happen in the classroom or on campus that harm relationships between teacher and student or student to student we will use the Return to Excellence process to repair those relationships.

Step 1: Review the following presentation with your teacher to get a better idea of how it works.

Step 2: Take a look at the RTE form that you will be asked to complete if you engage in behavior that is damaging to the relationships around you.

Step 3: Now look over the discipline matrix that is used to determine consequences for behavior that is not in line with the expectations outlined in the MHHS Student Handbook.

Step 4: Discussion

  • What are the pros and cons of participating in the RTE process instead of having consequences determined by the discipline matrix?
  • How does the RTE process support the values of the Mustang Way?
  • How is the RTE process similar to the mastery based grading model used at MHHS?
